Calling All Poets! by Shari Romar

We’re still talking about last month’s great event with the Fresh Meadows Poetry Society in honor of National Poetry Month.  Drawing from their inspiration, we’re starting a haiku forum, with a monthly drawing to win a $10 gift certificate to the QBG Gift Store!

Can’t recall that far back to high school English class?  Webster’s New World Dictionary provides this definition: a Japanese verse form of 3 unrhymed lines of 5, 7, 5 syllables respectively, usually on some subject in nature.

So put on those thinking caps and have some fun!  Your haiku can be serious or lighthearted, and we invite you to use QBG as the inspiration.  To get everyone started, here’s one from staffer Annette:

I am a blue spruce;
The arborist says I’m fine;
I have peace of mind.

(Contest details: beginning in June, at the end of each month we will hold a random drawing of all haikus received during the month.  The randomly selected entry author will be contacted via email with information on redeeming their $10 certificate that can be used at QBG’s Gift Store.  QBG employees may submit haikus but are not eligible for the random drawing.)
